Designed for full-time employees who want to take on greater responsibility in the field of digital accessibility.
Program Description
Outcomes
- Discuss WCAG guidelines and ADA Title II
- Conduct basic testing of digital tools to make recommendations about their use
- Develop workshops designed for colleagues
Overview
- Two year term that can be renewed for two years
- Open to full time faculty
- Application process and approval from supervisor
- Prior knowledge or experience not necessary, just an interest in supporting and sharing knowledge about digital accessibility
- Opportunity for professional growth
Responsibilities
- Take Deque courses – Access for one year upon registration
- Accessibility Fundamentals: Disabilities, Guidelines, and Laws
- Basic Web and Document Accessibility for Content Contributors
- Basic PDF Accessibility
- Web Accessibility Testing: Screen Readers
- Meet once or twice a month with the Senior Director of Teaching & Learning
- Serve as the point of contact for designated areas to promote digital accessibility
- Conduct two active learning sessions per academic year
- Advocate for digital accessibility as part of Universal Design for Learning
- Assist departments with preparing for their Digital Accessibility Progress Check-Ins
Compensation
- Faculty: one course reduction per semester, or equivalent as determined by supervisors
