About Davidson-Davie Academic Planning/Registration

Planning for course registration begins with a student’s chosen major and its corresponding educational plan or pathway. After selecting a major, students develop an educational plan during their first meeting with an advisor. In subsequent semesters, students can register for classes on their own using the Student Planning tool. However, they cannot proceed with registration until their schedule has been approved by the advisor. It is the student’s responsibility to enroll in courses that align with their educational plan. Students are increasingly expected to demonstrate greater proficiency in educational planning and in using the Student Planning tool. Ultimately, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are registered for the upcoming semester.

Students can register in many ways:

  • Advising Sessions – Students who prefer immediate feedback from their advisor in person can sign up for advising sessions through Starfish, check in using our virtual kiosk, or take advantage of our walk-in Wednesdays.
  • Appointments – For new students and those who are on academic warning, probation, or suspension, it is mandatory to meet with an academic advisor after being admitted to Davidson-Davie College. During the initial meeting, the advisor will discuss the student’s educational goals and other factors related to completing their degree. Students experiencing academic challenges that may have contributed to their warning, probation, or suspension are required to meet with their academic advisor.
  • Request a plan review – Students can select their classes for upcoming semesters in Stormtrac under the Student Planning section. They should then ask their advisor to approve their selections. The advisor has the option to approve the courses or provide suggestions based on factors such as course load, course difficulty, or necessary prerequisites. Once the courses are approved, the student can proceed with registration.
  • E-mail – Students can submit their proposed class schedules to their advisor via email. Please note that during the registration period, advisors receive a high volume of emails, and responses will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once your proposed schedule has been reviewed and approved, your advisor will send you a response so that you can register for classes on your designated date. It’s important to remember that email advising is available only for students in good academic standing. Students who are on probation or alert must meet with their advisor by phone or in person.

Graduation

  • Students can monitor their progress toward graduation at any time using StormTrac or Student Planning, or they can seek assistance from their Academic Advisor. To be eligible for graduation, students must complete an online Application for Graduation. After submitting your graduation application, the Student Records Staff will evaluate your eligibility and contact you through your Davidson-Davie email if there are any questions. Students should apply at least one semester in advance to ensure they are registered for all required classes needed for graduation.
